Today, it was the second match between Australia and South Africa where both teams faced each other at Old Trafford, Manchester on Saturday. Now, we all know that ODI 45 out of48 is ended right now and team South Africa has won it. They got an impressive victory by 10 runs. Good effort by them.
South Africa won the toss today and selected to bat first. They sent Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock on the pitch for opening the innings. Aiden Markram made 34 runs and Quinton de Kock was lucky enough to score a half-century with 52 runs and it was his 24th ODI half-century in 43 balls. Nathan Lyon got the wicket of Markram and a total of 2.
Du Plessis scored his 36th ODI half-century, and his fifth 2019 World Cup fifty. Rassie van der Dussen completed his 7th ODI half-century and got 94 runs. Faf du Plessis reached to his 12th ODI century in 93 balls. Behrendorff sent him back to the pavilion.
Starc got two wickets and he sent Duminy back at just 14 runs and Pretorius for 2 runs. In the 50th over, South Africa finished their innings on 325/6.
It was the time for Australia to prove the world’s number one once again and they sent David Warner and Aaron Finch on the pitch. Aaron Finch went back early and just scored 3 runs. Imran Tahir sent him back from the ground. David Warner took control of his team and scored a total of 122 runs. David Warner reached to his fourth World Cup half-century and his 21st ODI century. He also scored his 17th ODI century in the chase on 100 balls.
Steve Smith was out on 7 runs and Dwaine Pretorius took his wicket. He got 2 wickets in this match. Stoinis was dismissed at 22 runs by a run-out by Rabada and de Kock. Maxwell was sent back by Rabada and he got 3 wickets.
In the 24th over, the Australian team was in deep trouble and was waiting for a miracle. Then Carey came and he was very charged up and he made a total of 85 runs. Chris Morris and Pat Cummins got one wicket each. Carey became the only Australian ODI batsman since 1999 with a higher True Run Rate v spin than him are Maxwell, Gilchrist & Finch.
Starc hit a big shot of 81 meters and he gave a reason to smile to the Aussies. The entire team was out at 315 runs in the 50th over.
Today, South Africa played very well but unfortunately, they are out of the semifinals race and are going back to home after playing this last game. They are residing at the 7th position on the points table. On the other hand, Australia is sited at the 2nd position on the points table and they are going to play in the semifinals now.
The first semifinal will be played on 9 July 2019 on Tuesday. The countdown has started and there are just two matches more before we all will meet with the champs.
