Today it was the 48th match of ODI 48 World Cup 2019. In the final match, England and New Zealand faced each other in Lord's, London, England on 14 July 2019. For this match, we predicted that England was going to win and we were right. Both teams played a terrifying and fiery match but today, luck was on England’s side. England came in the finals of World cup after the gap of 27 years and both England and New Zealand never got the chance to win the trophy. It is the first time when England won the title of world cup champions.

On the other hand, the dream of winning the trophy of team New Zealand broke up once again.

New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first. Martin Guptill and Henry Nicholls arrived on the pitch and to send them back Chris Woakes came in the ground. Guptill took a very bad start and was out on 19 & 1 runs. Nicholls was still on the pitch and he played very well. Nicholls brought up his maiden World Cup half-century from 72 balls and it was his 9th half-century. He made a total of 55 and went back.

Williamson came but was out after giving 30 runs. Liam Plunkett and Woakes got three wickets each. Tom Latham scored a total of 47 but Ross Taylor was unable to make a big score and gave up on 15 runs. Mark Wood and Jofra Archer got one wicket each. Colin de Grandhomme looked very uncomfortable during his innings and was back to the pavilion by giving 16 runs. Neesham made 19 & 13 runs today. Matt Henry took the charge of the team at 238/7 in 49th over and he was able to give only 4 runs.

Jofra Archer became the highest wicket-taker for England in a single World Cup season. He got 20 wickets in this tournament.

New Zealand posted 241/8 in the first innings and set a chase of 242 runs for the team England to win the world cup trophy. The aggressive duo of Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow came on the pitch from England’s side to face Trent Boult with his ball. Jason Roy was back earlier and gave only 17 runs to his team. Joe Root was also in a hurry so went back after collecting 7 runs. It was not a good start by Team England. Jonny Bairstow was fortunate enough to make 36 runs in this final game. Ferguson got three wickets and Morgan was out at 9 runs. The team was in deep trouble at 86/4 and the fans in the stadium were praying for a miracle for their team to win.

Ben Stokes made 84 & 8 runs and Jos Buttler scored 59 & 7 runs. Ben Stokes got his half-century in 81 balls and it was his second half-century of World Cup 2019. Grandhomme got one wicket today. Woakes was out at 2 runs only and was unable to hit some big shots. Plunkett scored 10 runs and Neesham got two wickets. The entire team made 241/8 and then administration gave extra six balls (super over) to both teams.

Three batsmen were selected and one bowler was picked. England batsmen Stokes and Buttler were batting first and Trent Boult bowled them. England made 15 runs and New Zealand required 16 runs to win the trophy. Jofra Archer bowled for England and Martin Guptill and Jimmy Neesham was batting for New Zealand.
